A switch expression in Java
Java interview exercise on Modern Java, difficulty 1 of 3. Solve it in the editor beside a worked example; the tests run the moment you do.
Write statusText(code) as a switch expression: 200 → "OK", 201 → "Created", 204 → "No Content", 400, 401, 403 and 404 → "Client error", any other code from 400 to 499 → "Client error" too, 500 to 599 → "Server error", anything else → "Unknown". For the ranges, use a block with yield in the default branch (or an if chain there).
Each exercise pairs a worked example with a twin problem to solve in a real editor; the tests run the moment you do. Progress is saved in your browser, and in your account if you sign in.
